Happy 2024! First, I’d like to thank the membership for
allowing me the honor of being your Commodore this
year. I look forward to continuing with our values, fun and
traditions as we go into the 45th year of our Club’s existence!

I chose the phrase “Anchors Aweigh“ for my theme this
year, a nautical term that means, “the anchor is clear, and
the vessel is ready to begin its journey!” I thought this
sums up where we are as a Club at this time. We are 45
years strong and bursting at the seams in membership!
Our racing programs are top notch and growing and all
our charity efforts have proven to be beyond stellar!

Everywhere you go there is so much to brag about Dana West
Yacht Club. From all our fun parties to our active groups,
Dana West is the place to be. I look forward to celebrating
all the triumphs that our Club has accomplished over the
years and celebrating all that we will achieve this year.

I’m also thankful for such a wonderful Board of Directors
and incredible Junior Flags! This has been a talented group
of volunteers and I want to personally thank each one of
them for continuing to give their time and efforts to our
Club. Please remember we are a team of volunteers, and it
takes all of us to make this well-oiled machine work.

Thank you to Ms. Helen for all that she does day in and day
out and for our amazing kitchen staff, our hard-working bar
staff and every single member who puts time and energy
into all our various committees. It does not go unnoticed!
The Budget Committee is currently working diligently
on a budget for 2024. We are looking for ways to
present a balanced budget that satisfies the needs of
all our members. To assist us, we are asking for your
input on methods and timing of communications from
leadership. There is a survey on page 14 of this issue of
Lines and Bits. We ask that you complete it and email it
to membership@dwyc.org. Your input is important to
the Budget Committee in finalizing the budget for 2024.
Please submit your input by January 31st.

Mark your calendar for our General Meeting January 20th
at 11am. Come hear about the state of the Club and what is
planned for the upcoming year! Hope to see you all there!
Please continue to follow us on Facebook and via our
weekly E-Blasts for all the latest news and information.
Stop me or email me as well with any questions, concerns
or feedback.

So… “Anchors Aweigh”…2024 here we come!
