I’m 59 years old and retired with a fair amount of spare time. In my 30’s I belonged to the Newport Sail Club, not the yacht club however. I graduated from their academy and was then able to rent sailboats. I learned to navigate with charts, a compass and the other navigational tools. I never raced and I’ve never set a spinnaker. I was an efficient sailor though in boats up to 35’. The club did not like teaching spinnakers for some reason. Most of our downwind runs were reaches.
Here I am 25 years later and forgot most of the stuff except for the points of sail and sail trim. I have spare time and love sailing. I’m typically an upbeat positive person who would love to help someone as crew if possible.
Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Mike Payne
